La Familia Medical Center staff will be providing basic services inside the Barbara Richardson "Para Tu Salud" Care Van, BCBSNM's mobile health van. The dates, times, and locations for the Health and Human Services Week health fairs are:

  • Friday, April 18, 12-6 p.m., Santa Fe Place Mall, 4250 Cerrillos Road

  • Friday, April 25, 2-6 p.m., Farmer's Market, El Dorado
  • Monday, April 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wal-Mart, Santa Fe, 3251 Cerrillos Road

Services provided by La Familia will include blood pressure checks and blood glucose (blood sugar) tests. Participants will also receive a coupon for a free fasting cholesterol screening to be scheduled at a later date. General health information and literature will also be available.

The Fifth Annual Health and Human Services Week has three objectives: Heightening awareness of Santa Fe's critical health and human services needs, providing a forum for dialogue on health and human services issues, and raising money for supporting organizations.

BCBSNM was one of the original supporters of Health and Human Services Week because of its commitment to the Santa Fe community. "Partnering with La Familia to provide some health care resources in Santa Fe helps meet our Care Van mission, which is to work with community and state partners to provide health outreach throughout the state," says Alfonso Trujillo, Director of Marketing Promotions and Community Relations of BCBSNM. "We are committed to supporting Health and Human Services Week in Santa Fe not only with a donation, but with our presence through the Care Van. We are very grateful to La Familia staff for providing the services on the Care Van and making this partnership possible."
