Blue Corps Team
Community support occurs at many levels. From sponsoring projects related to BCBSNM health initiatives to taking part in blood drives, food drives, and fundraisers, we strive to be active participants in our community. BCBSNM also promotes employee volunteerism through the BlueCorps team. We are proud to sponsor events that benefit New Mexicans.
Operation Back to School
For two decades BCBSNM employees have generously donated time and money to provide school supplies for New Mexico's students in need. Summer 2010 was the 20th annual Operation Back to School campaign for much-needed school supplies. In August, BCBSNM delivered supplies to seven school districts and schools around the state.
Blue Cross has a strong record of commitment to United Way. Each year BCBSNM and its employees contribute to the many partner agencies served by United Way, providing support for people in need. United Way of Central New Mexico partners with organizations and programs to help improve the quality of life for New Mexicans. BCBSNM is committed to the future of the United Way, just as the United Way is committed to the people of this state.
BCBSNM employees provide holiday presents for families in need. The families are quite diverse — they include single moms, grandparents raising grandkids, military families with a deployed parent, or even new parents anxiously awaiting a birth. BCBSNM employees schedule fundraising events — bake sales, auctions, or enchilada lunches — to generate money to complete the families' wish lists.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
BCBSNM is a major sponsor of the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk held each spring. Making Strides is the largest fundraiser walk in New Mexico. BCBSNM team captains sell t-shirts and employees get pledges to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
