Blue Care Connection® Offers New Wellness Programs

Blue Care Connection* (BCC) offers wellness programs to help those Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) members who want to quit smoking and/or lose weight, as well as manage or improve their overall health.

The Tobacco Cessation program helps members understand barriers to quitting, identify personal motivators, and learn about treatment options.

The Weight Management program helps members set goals and learn about maintaining a healthy weight, activities to help reach goals, and healthy eating.

To sign up for the tobacco cessation and weight management programs, members can log in to Blue Access for Members and select Personal Health Manager; then under For Your Health, choose Stop Smoking or Lose Weight. They can use Personal Health Manager (PHM) to access resources – personal coaching, online tools, and an AudioHealth Library®. There are discounts on programs, products, and services that encourage weight loss, exercise, and good nutrition. Every time progress is reported in PHM, members earn Blue PointsSM redeemable for reward items**.

Worksite Wellness, another component of BCC available to employer groups with 51+ employees, enables employers to provide their employees with on-site health education and screening opportunities. BlueResource, a CD-based library of health and wellness electronic communications designed to share with employees, is also part of this program.

If you have selected Blue Care Connection as part of your health care benefits, all basic services available through BCC are confidential and there is no extra cost to your employees who are BCBSNM members.

For more information about BCC wellness programs, call your BCBSNM account representative.

*Blue Care Connection (BCC) is available to most BCBSNM members; however, some BCC programs and services (such as the Personal Health Manager) may not be available to groups who selected another health services vendor. Members can verify if they have access to Blue Care Connection programs and services by calling the Customer Service number on the back of their ID card, or by contacting their employer group benefits administrator.

**Blue Points program rules are subject to change without prior notice.
