Standard Option coverage:

Offers benefits for covered services performed by both Preferred and Non-preferred providers
Lessens your out-of-pocket expenses -- coinsurance and copayments -- when you use Preferred provider.
Basic Option coverage:
Offers a lower premium than Standard Option
Gives comprehensive coverage with no deductibles & no referrals
Requires that you use Preferred providers, except in emergency situations
