Find a Doctor

Search for doctors, dentists, hospitals and other health providers with our Provider Finder®.

Find a Hospital

Choosing the right hospital or treatment facility is an important decision that requires research. Follow the steps below to find a hospital that best meets your needs.

  1. Make a List of Potential Hospitals
    • Search the Provider Finder® to find a hospital that is part of your provider network.
If you have specialty care needs, such as bariatric, cardiac, cancer, transplant, spine, or knee or hip replacement surgery, look for Blue Distinction Centers®. These facilities have demonstrated expertise in delivering clinically proven specialty health care.
    • Ask your doctor where he or she practices. If they are affiliated with more than one hospital, ask about the pros and cons of each. Also ask for any other suggestions.
    • Ask your family and friends for a hospital reference.
  2. Research and Narrow Your List
    • Search the Internet for data about each hospital. Log in to Blue Access for MembersSM to see ratings, reviews, awards and recognitions like:
      • The Joint Commission  accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
      • Blue Distinction Centers have a proven track-record for delivering better results — like fewer complications and readmissions — than hospitals without this recognition.
  3. Visit the Hospital
    • Once you've narrowed down your list, visit your top choices and consider these questions:
      • Is it easy to get to for you and your loved ones who may want to visit?
      • What are the visiting hours?
      • Is it clean and comfortable?
      • Does it specialize in treating your health problem?
      • If so, ask about their training and success in treating your health problem.
      • How many cases like yours are seen there each year? What are the results?
      • Does it offer the types of testing you will need?
