Did you purchase health insurance for the first time this year? Because of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), millions of uninsured Americans now have access to more affordable health care than ever before. If you're new to insurance, now is a good time to learn what to expect as a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) member.
You will receive your insurance card through the mail soon after your application is approved. Your insurance card will have information on your plan, copays and how to contact us if you need assistance.
People who bought individual plans will get one card and those with family plans will get two. You can request additional cards through Blue Access for MembersSM as well.

Be sure to check that your provider or hospital is in your plan's network. If you go to a provider who is not in your plan's network, it will cost you more (unless it is an emergency). To check to see if your doctor is in network or if you want to find a new one, use our online Provider Finder.
BCBSNM will pay your provider directly for covered services.
