The New Mexico Medical Insurance Pool (NMMIP) was created by the New Mexico state legislature in 1987. This nonprofit program enables private health insurers to pool resources with New Mexicans who have been denied health insurance coverage, providing these citizens with comprehensive health care. BCBSNM has been the administrator of the NMMIP program since 1988.
