Valid 9-digit ZIP Code Required
If you utilize the Availity® portal to submit electronic claims to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM), or if you utilize a billing service or clearinghouse that may submit electronic claims on your behalf, please note:
- A valid 9-digit ZIP code is required at the billing level. A valid 9-digit ZIP code is also required for the service facility location, if different from the billing address.
- A 9-digit ZIP code is not required in the patient’s and/or subscriber address; however, if a 9-digit ZIP code is entered, it must be valid, otherwise the claim will reject.
- A rejection message will appear on the Electronic Batch Report when the ZIP code is determined to be invalid.
