Temporarily Uninsured?

Choose Blue TransitionsSM for peace of mind...

Accidents and unexpected illnesses can happen to anyone. That's why people who are temporarily uninsured need immediate coverage with Blue Transitions, a new short-term health insurance plan from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM). This Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan lets you choose from three deductible options and decide how long you need the coverage – from one to six months with the option to reapply for up to six additional months.

Blue Transitions is designed to fit your budget while providing peace of mind that you are receiving reliable health care coverage and protection from unexpected accidents or illnesses. You receive access to our PPO providers in New Mexico and nationwide through the BlueCard® program, as well as up to $2 million in covered benefits per person. BCBSNM pays 70 percent and you pay 30 percent of eligible expenses after you meet the deductible. You can rely on short-term coverage from a health insurance company you know and trust.

Freedom of Choice

  • Choose from a $500, $1000, or $2000 deductible
  • Decide how long you need coverage — 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 months of coverage
  • No referrals required to see specialists (prior approval required for some services)
  • Choose from over 8,300 physicians and other providers statewide
  • No claims to file with Preferred Providers (Members must see health care providers in our PPO network to receive benefits; services from out-of-network providers are not covered except for emergencies. See the Benefit Booklet for more details.)
