Kristen Myers, a Medicare regulatory analyst at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM), was named the 2018 BCBSNM Volunteer of the Year. The annual Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an employee who shows the spirit of giving back to the community through volunteerism.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico and Albertsons Companies Offer Supermarket Classes and Tours for Diabetic Patients
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) is joining with Albertsons Companies to provide ‘Managing Your Diabetes’ classes to help BCBSNM members understand and proactively control their diabetes and general health. The no-cost classes are part of BCBSNM’s Living365® program, which offers wellness guidance for BCBSNM members through printed materials, classes, online resources and in-home test kits. The ‘Managing Your Diabetes’ classes will be offered during the month of September in 10 Albertsons stores in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas and Las Cruces.

Adelante Receives Grant From BCBSNM To Improve The Health Of More New Mexico Children Through Adelante’s Wellness Referral Center
Adelante Development Center received a $40,000 grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) through its Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® (HKHF) initiative. Adelante is a local nonprofit supporting people with disabilities, seniors, and disadvantaged people by providing a variety of community resources including a Wellness Referral Center that connects people to wellness classes and activities. Adelante will be partnering with BCBSNM, whose vision for the HKHF program is to help improve the health of youth and their families in local communities.

Grant to help improve kids’ health by providing support groups after a loved one’s death
The Children’s Grief Center of New Mexico (CGC) announced today that it received a $15,000 grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) through its Healthy Kids, Healthy Families® (HKHF) initiative. CGC provides a safe and supportive environment where children, teens and their families can share experiences and feelings while grieving a death. This is the fifth year that BCBSNM has provided CGC a grant to support their grief programming for youth and families.
