Diana Weber, M.D., Named Chief Medical Officer for Medicaid for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Diana Weber has joined BCBSNM as the chief medical officer for Medicaid.  

Dr. Weber is a physician with 18 years of leadership experience in profit and not-for-profit systems, including medical group operations and value-based care. Dr. Weber will be working closely with Medicaid health care management on Medicaid strategy and business performance. Dr. Weber currently serves on the board of directors of Saranam, a nonprofit organization in Albuquerque that operates a housing program for families experiencing homelessness.

Before joining BCBSNM, Dr. Weber served as medical director at OptumCare, one of the largest value-oriented medical groups and ambulatory care systems in the country.

Dr. Weber has also held faculty positions at Georgetown University Hospital and University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. She has a medical degree from George Washington University and completed a residency in general surgery at University of California, Davis – East Bay.
