Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico Announces 2024 Medicare Plan Offerings

ALBUQUERQUE — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) is offering Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plans in 30 out of 33 counties in New Mexico, providing options to 479,000 Medicare-eligible individuals. BCBSNM continues to increase access to rural and underserved areas by expanding the Medicare Advantage service area into Eddy County for HMO and Dual Needs Special Plans (DSNP) in 2024.

During this year’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), BCBSNM’s plans offer lower out-of-pocket costs, increased network access, prescription drug coverage and supplement benefits including dental, vision and hearing.

New Plan Features for 2024
The BCBSNM 2024 Medicare product portfolio offers shoppers an increased range of affordable options and new opportunities to get even more from Medicare. “This Annual Enrollment Period we are offering coverage tailored to individual needs,” said BCBSNM Vice President of Sales Marlene Baca. “We are here to help members find the right plan to manage health care costs and navigate the complex health care system.”

  • Amazon Pharmacy added as a preferred mail-order pharmacy for all MAPD plans.
  • DSNP plans have the option to use their over-the-counter benefit at participating retail stores.
  • Some plans will offer 24/7 access to nurses and virtual primary care visits.
  • Additional features may include a travel benefit, referred to as the BlueCard® program.

o  This enables members to obtain health care services with participating providers and independent BCBS plans across the country and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

  • With the prescription drug plan (Part D) options, BCBSNM offers the convenience of nationwide coverage at thousands of pharmacies and mail-order choices, helping members save on prescription drug copays when using a Preferred Pharmacy.

Strong Provider Network
We maintain and monitor a wide network of participating providers including physicians, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, ancillary providers and other health care providers. There are approximately 4,000 primary care providers, 21,000 specialists and 600 hospitals and other health care facilities that members can access for covered services.

Enrollment Assistance
To help people understand the benefits of Medicare Advantage plans, BCBSNM is organizing in-person events, including Care Van® events, with provider and civic partners including the City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs, Optum, Lovelace Health System and CHRISTUS St. Vincent.

During AEP, Medicare specialists will host walk-in hours at BCBSNM headquarters, 5701 Balloon Fiesta Parkway, from now through December 7, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The events are open to everyone.
