BCBSNM recognized for its continuous commitment to high-quality, person-centered care

ALBUQUERQUE — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) has recently been awarded a Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Distinction by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. 

NCQA’s LTSS Distinction is awarded to health plans that demonstrate high quality, effective health care and social services standards that align with state requirements for vulnerable individuals needing LTSS services, including those who are older or have disabilities. Additionally, health plans must have core functions in place, such as person-centered care planning, effective care transitions and critical-incident management systems with built-in health equity principles and patient protections. 

“We are proud to have been recognized by NCQA for the work we have accomplished to provide effective, coordinated care to our more than 10,000 members that receive long-term services and supports across the state,” said Nancy Smith-Leslie, vice president of Medicaid at BCBSNM. “Receiving this distinction further showcases our commitment and promise to the state to advance quality initiatives for integrated care and improve the overall health care outcomes for all New Mexicans.”

BCBSNM serves more than 270,000 New Mexico Medicaid members across the state and has participated in the state’s Medicaid program since 2008.
