What You Need to Know About Open Enrollment

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico offers a variety of options for those in need of quality, affordable health insurance

ALBUQUERQUE — Beginning Nov. 1, the health insurance marketplace opened for New Mexicans to begin electing medical coverage for 2024.

This open enrollment period allows individuals and families to enroll, re-enroll or make changes to their health insurance plans. Now is the time to find a plan that suits your needs and budget before the deadline.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico offers a large array of plans to meet the health care and financial needs of New Mexicans. All our existing qualified health plans will be renewed in 2024. Our Blue Community HMO plan is the lowest-cost option on both silver and gold in Bernalillo County. 

  • Blue Community Silver HMO includes free MDLIVE® virtual visits and has plans with deductibles ranging from $75-$5,500. Primary care office visit copayments range from $5-$70.
  • Blue Community Gold HMO includes free MDLIVE® virtual visits and has plans with deductibles ranging from $750-$3,000. Primary care office visit copayments range from $15-$35.

New in 2024:

  • Our prescription drug coverage includes MedsYourWay, a systematic program that allows pharmacies to process claims for a specific set of medications with an automatic price comparison. Members will pay the lower price between a participating drug discount card or their plan benefit cost share at the point of sale.

The current open enrollment period for New Mexico Off Exchange ends Dec. 15, while New Mexico On Exchange open enrollment continues through Jan. 15, 2024.
