Community Health Fair Brings Essential Health Screenings and Resources to Silver City and Surrounding Area

SILVER CITY, New Mexico — Silver City-area residents, including Deming, Lordsburg, Mimbres and Cliff, are invited to a community health fair dedicated to promoting wellness, providing essential health services and connecting individuals and families with local resources. The event is 3-6 p.m. June 24 at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business & Conference Center, 3031 U. S. 180, Silver City.

This free event brings together health care organizations, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, Presbyterian Health Plan, Molina Healthcare of New Mexico and United Healthcare, to offer a range of screenings, vaccinations and resources for individuals of all ages. 

Event Highlights:

  • Vision screenings by New Mexico Lions Operation KidSight Inc. in the BCBSNM Care Van®
  • Vaccines, STD screenings, birth control, TB, HIV and hepatitis C services in the New Mexico Department of Health mobile unit
  • Fire truck from Silver City Fire Department

Attendees will have access to health-related organizations, including:

  • NMSU Papen-Aprendamos Autism Diagnostic Center
  • Silver Health CARE
  • Cassie Health Center
  • Inspire Psychiatry Services
  • Non-Metro New Mexico Area on Aging
  • Grant County Community Health Council

  • Mountain Shadows Home Care Inc.

These organizations will provide information about area health care services, resources for older residents, career opportunities, mental health, early childhood programs, employment support and home health care. Free information materials, goodie bags, children’s books and supplies, snacks and bottled water will be available while supplies last.

Attendees will also have the chance to win door prizes, including baby gear from Presbyterian Health Plan, gift certificates to the Silver City Food Co-op, diaper bags, onesies, stuffed bears, umbrellas and lunch bags from BCBSNM, as well as items from Molina and UHC.
