May 19, 2025

Effective Aug. 19, 2025, we’ll implement a new Clinical Payment and Coding Policy, CPCP044 Global Obstetrical/OB Maternity Services, with coding guidance.

CPCP044 provides information for eligible reimbursement for obstetrical maternity services occurring during the global OB period for professional provider claims. The global OB period includes antepartum care, delivery services and postpartum care.

This policy includes billing and coding guidance for the following:

  • Initial OB visit
  • Global OB package
  • Multiple births
  • Care provided by two different providers
  • Complications
  • Quality measurement reporting

For more detail, refer to the new policy CPCP044.
