The New Mexico Health Care Authority will transition this spring to a new Medicaid claims management system, Turquoise Claims. This system will replace Omnicaid and the New Mexico Medicaid Portal.
Review our FAQs to prepare for the system launch and avoid claim denials.
Reminders when billing Turquoise Care claims:
- Active enrollment − Ensure the National Provider Identifier is actively enrolled with Turquoise Care for the date of service billed on the claim.
- Correct taxonomy − Use the appropriate taxonomy for the billing, rendering and attending provider’s NPI in accordance with the HCA Provider Matrix.
- Precise location − Include the full nine-digit ZIP code (ZIP code plus the additional four digits associated with the physical location where the services were rendered).
- Valid modifiers − Apply valid and applicable modifiers.
- Data validation − Verify that member data matches the member ID card and Medicaid portal.
