BCBSNM Wildfire Relief

Since June 2025, we have been supporting our BCBSNM members and the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance’s emergency order for carriers to provide help and relief to members in Grant County impacted by the Trout wildfire.  

The order applied to our fully insured members. Some of our self-funded clients opted into the order’s relief. 

The following relief from the OSI’s emergency order will end on Aug. 3, 2026:

  • Providing a 90-day grace period for premium payments and six-month payment plan thereafter
  • Waiving cost-sharing and deductibles
  • Postponing cancellations and non-renewals
  • Waiving time limits for early prescription drug refills
  • Allowing replacement for lost or damaged medication
  • Waiving frequency limits to permit replacement of one eyeglasses/contact lens set, hearing aid, dentures/prosthodontics, disposable medical supplies, and Durable Medical Equipment
  • Waiving Prior Authorization for medically necessary services

Impacted members who are in a grace period for premium payments can call the number on their member ID card for help with a payment plan, if needed. If you have questions, please call the number on your member ID card.
