More than 20/20: A Broader Vision Benefits Story

Oct. 23, 2026

Applies to All Groups

An eye exam checks for more than just how well your employees can see. It can also uncover early signs of health concerns such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Why it matters: Some health conditions can develop with few or no clear symptoms. Routine eye exams provide another opportunity to identify possible concerns, encourage timely follow-up care and help employees take a more active role in their health.

Regular eye exams can:

  • Support early detection and proactive care
  • Help employees identify possible health risks
  • Encourage employees to connect with other health care providers
  • Support overall health, not just eyesight
  • Add value to a broader workforce well-being strategy

Putting vision benefits to work:

  • Promote regular eye exams as part of preventive care.
  • Remind employees that vision benefits offer value beyond glasses and contacts.
  • Include Vision coverage in overall health and well-being messages.
  • Share benefit information throughout the year, not just during enrollment.
  • Encourage employees to discuss exam findings with their primary care provider.

Promoting vision care can help employees better understand their health and stay ahead of possible risks.
