BCBSNM Wildfire Relief Ends on April 1
April 1, 2026
Applies to All Markets*
Since June 2024, we have been supporting our Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico members and the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance’s emergency order for carriers to provide help and relief to members impacted by the Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation wildfires.
The order applied to our Fully Insured members. Some of our self-funded clients opted into the order’s relief.
The following relief from the OSI’s emergency order will end on April 1, 2026:
- Providing a grace period for premium payments and six-month payment plan
- Waiving cost-sharing and deductibles
- Postponing cancellations and non-renewals
- Waiving time limits for early prescription drug refills
- Allowing replacement for lost-damaged medication
- Waiving frequency limits to permit one eyeglasses/contact lens set, hearing aid, dentures/prosthodontics, disposable medical supplies and DME
- Waiving PA for medically necessary services
Impacted group members who are in a grace period for premium payments should work with their BCBSNM representative on a payment plan, if needed.
